Intro: Natural Living

Whenever I started a new job I always felt like a secret agent hiding my true identity. I am just trying to mind my business – work, focus on work, go home. I do not know if it is a Vegas thing because there are few natives and many transplants. I just do not understand the sharing, oversharing, and instant friendships. Anyway, once someone at work figured out that I was a vegetarian (I hate labels) then a flood of questions would follow. Judgment too, ” Oh she ate this, that does not fall in line with my definition of a vegetarian.”

My coworkers would be dismissive at first but soon realized I just eat food. Often they would ask for a taste and then the recipe. I make everything from scratch, sweeten with honey or maple syrup, and try to only buy ingredients in glass containers.

I am not a vegetarian per se my body and skin have dictated my diet and the products I use. Everything that touches my skin or goes inside my body must be natural, minimally processed if at all. The best food comes from the root -the soil, a tree, a bush.

This is dedicated to mi prima Gina who I owe a Chinese eggplant recipe and lemon blueberry bread recipe and previous coworkers who asked for my chili recipe (made with soy chorizo). Those and other recipes to follow.
